Spot on. By definition.

Re: What a Strange Religion...???
Bit of a low blow to take the worst of a religion and act as though it was typical.

I won't be arguing that the Catholic and Muslim chaplains* to the non-German units of the SS** were typical of Catholicism and Islam.

*they had very few chaplains of other religions
**German SS units were forbidden to have chaplains

Re: What a Strange Religion...???
Aren’t all the Abrahamic religions a bit weird? Believing in an invisible super being, who just thought itself into existence, lives in another dimension, does magic when nobody is looking and then gave itself a useless penis and testes, is hardly logical thinking, is it?

Re: What a Strange Religion...???
Religion, succinct.

Join our gang
Give us your money
Your faith
Your time
Your life
Your fears
Your belief
Your breath

Nothing is here
Nothing comes after
No east nor west
Nothing proveable
when you die
We claim youll see
Some things and see
Some books written long ago
Come to pass.
Nothing tangible though
In case you ask.

When you are dead
You will know no less
Everything will end
And all you believed in will be lost,
a dead end
Full stop.

You will not remember
The greatest story of nothing ever told.
The one you lived by, the lie they sold.

ALL Abrahamic religions are basically lavishly embellished desert survival instruction manuals.

Who the fuck gives an instruction manual a second glance? Fucking nobody, that's who, hence the embellishment.

Re: What a Strange Religion...???
Religion is the loaded gun of brainwashing, in the wrong hands or in religions case head it breeds violence.

So by that i’m an islamaphobe, anti semite and any of those other mincey catogories people (who know deep down they are in the wrong) put you in.

Still needing a moral code to hide behind in this day and age ffs.

A religious thread is a nice change from all the football threads on here. Could do with some more political ones too

The best thing about them is the holidays you can get like this one for us.

Re: What a Strange Religion...???
It's not a religious thread, it's a poor attempt to demonise Jews by one of the site's anti semites.
It's pure hate, not religion.

Re: What a Strange Religion...???
All the abrahamic religions were founded in the middle east by desert people hundreds of years ago while most if not all Europeans were following their own native paganism.

Europe got stuck with one of them (christianity) and it went thru a load of reformation etc. Its the best of a bad bunch, but is far from perfect, and like it or not is a huge part of our culture.

It'll probably be replaced by Islam in much of Europe sooner than we think, ironically because the reformation made it less aggressive.

Might is right and Islam will prevail. Jews won't give a fuck as they can safely move to their promised land (given to them by Christians) when shit hits the fan.

I doubt that Israel has enough room to physically accommodate all or Europe's jews.

Re: What a Strange Religion...???
Surely the Jews are just another Arabic tribe who rebranded themselves under their religious beliefs due to being nomads?

They are Arabs who badly attempt to set themselves apart from other Arabs?

Re: What a Strange Religion...???
All religions are strange when you look at them objectively. A set of stories / superstitions that were legitimised largely by the virtue of being the first thing put into written word in a time when there was no written words. Thats why they are only a couple of thousand years old. Also odd why your religion depends on geography ( Hindus in India, Muslims in Middle East etc...) all claiming their stories are the only ones :-)

They have helped ( and hindered) in the evolution of man kind but our science and learning now shows them to be more symbolic than literal. There is no historic evidence of Jesus for example and the stories in the bible are strangely close to Horus and other previous religious figures.

So I see them as at best part of our evolution and the stories are what they are.... stories used to guide ( being kind here as it was really control) the illiterate and uneducated masses to comply and not go around killing everyone and every thing :-)

Shame that indoctrination to the age of 10 is almost impossible to negate. The prefrontal cortex is indelibly imprinted and in adulthood any attempt to reverse or even question the "thinking"/"brainwashing" undermines the security and whole well being of many individuals and is met with a violent response. Hence the wars etc.

There is a simple alternative... be kind and treat everyone as you would expect to be treated ( fits on a beer mat that one and all the religions quote it amongst the pages of nonsense) but that relies on having good parents and a childhood free from abuse, problems etc.. Who'd be a social worker trying to break that cycle in families.

Human species is closer to a primeval animal than many would like to think IMO.
